A Pair of Guardian Lions Greets Our Guests
As you approach the front lanai of the Manoa Valley Inn, you’ll encounter a pair stone lions. These aren't just any lions, but guardian lions that are part of rich Chinese tradition. The pair

represent the yin (female) and yang (male) elements of Chinese thought. The male has his front paw on a ball, representing the world, and the female’s front paw rests on a playful lion cub, representing the cycle of life. The female protects the guests in the house while the male protects the structure. These traditional guardians are perfectly suited for an Inn in Hawai‘i’s multi-cultural environment … especially for a historic structure where guests are welcomed and cared for. E Komo Mai … Welcome!
Come visit our welcoming lions.
